Defiant Dreams: Tales of Everyday Divas is a collection of twenty-four handpicked through a nationwide contest. It is a collage of love and patience, courage and determination. When They Spoke

Remember those toddler years when we could be sold any story about how the trees, books, tables, walls, and particularly, all our toys would come to life when it turned dark and we slept? They would talk and play till the wee hours when the entire household came awake. The inanimates told their stories.

As we grew up, we lost the faith that any inanimate or lifeless thing can actually see, hear or feel, let alone articulate itself, and with that, we lost their perspectives.

When They Spoke brings back that lost story.. recreates that magic of having inanimate beings narrate tales.. tales that actually show how they are entwined in every aspect of our lives, regardless of how unaware, indifferent or ignorant we are.

Born out of a nationwide short story competition organised by the Delhi Literature Festival and Readomania, When They Spoke is a collection of 29 short stories that are narrated by inanimate things like a house, a safety pin, a tree, a mountain, a door and many more.
