If an author can make you think about her book for days after you have turned the last page, then it’s a book worth reading twice. Radhika has done such a fine job with her book ‘In the light of Darkness’ that I will include it in the 5 best books I have read this year.
When I read a book, I visualize it like a movie. I make it as intricate as possible – the surroundings, the clothes, the sounds and the actors. For some books, the onus lies with me to visualize it as the author has not done that job with her words. But for this book, the descriptions and the thoughts of the characters are so well put on paper, that I just had to read and the scenes were created right in front of my eyes without any effort. You can see Bydore in front of your eyes, you can feel the pain of Meera and Susan, the anger and frustration of Matthew. You feel as if you are there, sitting with them and staring at their lives. The end leaves you so content and happy that you cannot turn the last page without a smile on your face.
In The Light Of Darkness is not just a well-written book, it has a story worthy of making into a movie. There is certain calmness in Radhika’s writing, an old world charm. The book makes you believe in the inherent kindness of strangers. It makes you feel to go out and to be good to someone. I wish we had more books like these.
This book is worth buying and keeping in your library. I wish all the best to Radhika.
